Yeah I've heard it a thousand times from my friends and family members, but it isn't till you experience how quickly kids change that you really understand. Cooper seems to be growing every day and changing quickly. The kid looked exactly like Jill at first (in my opinion), but now neither of Jill or I think he looks much like her at all. Of course, give it a week and he'll look just like her again.

Getting to enjoy another nice week at the house before shipping off to Calgary again next week. Got out for a brief bike ride without the boot today (Doctor said it was OK, well he said it was OK to ride a stationary bike anyway) and it felt great. Mid 50 degrees, no wind and I got to actually ride. Nothing special, just some laps around the neighborhood, but it was liberating to say the least. I put a shoe on my right foot today for the first time in 7 or 8 weeks and it felt alien to say the least, but I am walking much more normally than just a few days ago. I'll still be wearing the boot most of the time, but I'll do some light walking when possible.

Out shopping

After some pizza at The Sink we hit up 29th St Mall in Boulder to find some super duper Christmas bargains. A bit chilly out, so Coop got outfitted in his sweet new hat from Bob & Becky and his polar fleece suit Sarah got him.

Justin and Dr. Linda Kimberly made the huge trip down from Fairbanks, and as always was really great to see them as we don't get to see them nearly enough.

A tired little boy

Cooper got his Christmas present a little early (more on that later), and flat wore himself out with it both yesterday and today. We heard the commotion stop, looked over and saw him passed out upright in his jumper.

Children, Predators and Community Action

Having lived 32 years without a child, I've been lulled to sleep on the dangers that our children face in the community. It seems that at every gas station, supermarket, school, etc dangers lurk around every corner. We all try to create a safe environment at home and try to find trustworthy people to help care for our kids when the inevitable time comes when we must be separated from them. Unfortunately, many times we cannot even trust these caretakers. This lesson hit all too close to home as my cousin Brandon and his wife learned recently.

It all began innocently enough with Brandon and Amy wanting to enjoy the recent bedlam football game between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. They left Ty and Bodie with family members, a seemingly safe haven. The kids were welcomed and treated well to start as seen in this picture taken slightly before kickoff of the game.



What they found when they got home will make many good parents lose sleep and they will surely be dealing with emotional trauma of this event for years.

Disturbing.

These are children and should not be subjected to such things. While poor Bodie had no chance, one has to question what type of torturous acts Ty was subjected to before finally conforming, although the perpetrator has often boasted about her "water boarding" techniques in pest control. I shudder to think what might have happened.

Colorado to Oklahoma (seeing OKC, Stillwater, Tulsa, Bartlesville, Lawton) then to San Antonio then to Calgary and eventually back through Denver for a night before heading to Arkansas briefly then hitting up San Antonio once more, back to Arkansas then Oklahoma then Colorado and then Calgary again for good measure.

Cooper Did His Part

but couldn't quite will out a win for the Pokes this weekend. He sported his sweet Dez Bryant jersey and looked awfully cute, but the Pokes came up a bit short.
